In early 2001, it all began with divine intervention, “A Vision from God” — On March 13, 2001, Bishop Michael Gilcreast founded, Michael Gilcreast Ministries, Inc. Soon after, Bishop Michael Gilcreast and 1st Lady Melody Gilcreast used their home on North Street, N.E., Leesburg, VA, to begin the ministry with four people. Which led to the formation of HIGHER HOPE APOSTOLIC CHURCH *(Formerly:  New Life Praise & Deliverance Church), and the first official service was held on June 3, 2001, Douglass Community Center, 407 East Market Street, Leesburg, VA.

*The Church Scripture is: II Corinthians 5:17 – Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature; old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Our beginning membership for the 1st five years are as follows: *(first family) Bishop Michael Gilcreast, 1st Lady Melody Gilcreast, Brother Michael Jones, Brother Michael Gilcreast II, *(church family) Sister Rhonda Allen, Sister Regina Boysen, Brother A.D. Carter, Sister Alice Carter, Sister Raquel Curtis, Sister Freda Gerard, Brother Earl Grayson, Brother Murray Hall, Brother Anthony Jackson, Sister Asia Jones, Brother Jaqown Jones, Sister Lucinda Jones, Sister Jennifer Lincoln, Deacon Aaron McDaniel, Brother Ontario Powell-Miller, Sister Dolores Mills, Sister LaKeisha Nix, Sister Tanya Pla, Sister Mary Spence, Brother LaMar Taylor, Brother Divonteuy Tinsley, Sister LaTasha Tinsley, Sister LaTueeshla Tinsey, Sister Frankie Washington, Sister Rebekka Washington, and Brother Roy Washington.

On March 6, 2005, Deacon Aaron McDaniel was our first member to be ordained in the Office of Deacon. Then, on January 4, 2009, Minister Aaron McDaniel became our first licensed Minister. Also, on October 11, 2009, Evangelist Benita Williams is the first person to serve in the office of “Evangelist” for our church ministry. We are moving forward and making history at our church!!

From August 8, 2009 to October 31, 2014, our church ministry in Sterling, VA. had drawn to a close. We held our last service there for October 2014.  The historal program was as follows:  Evangelist Benita Williams taught the adult Sunday school class, Elder Aaron McDaniel taught the youth & children’s Sunday school class, praise and worship by Co-Pastor Melody Gilcreast & Evangelist Benita Williams, the theme exhortation by Co-Pastor Melody Gilcreast, church secretary office by Sister Mary-Margaret Johnson, and the Sunday message by our very own — Bishop Michael Gilcreast, “I’ve Got To Go, Philippians 3:13.”

We are presently holding our church services at 305 South Charles Street, Charles Town, WV, until God open the doors to our next level, as He has done all the times before…
